As an aspiring international jet-setting pilot (32 hours in an old PA28) my current watch envy is for the Breitling Navitimer 01, the Rose Gold and Steel case version.
We all know that you can buy an accurate quartz watch for £10 but there’s so much more to owning an iconic classic watch. It’s not about being ‘flash with the cash‘ if that’s your thing stick to the fake Rolex and fake orange tan.
What Breitling is about are the exceptional mechanics, the quality and the heritage. The Breitling link with aviation and their jet display teams, I admit, is also an attraction. I know I only fly a little single engined PA28 that has seen better days but for those few hours a week, in my mind at least, I am a fearless pilot in the golden age of aviation.

But now the unpleasantries, the Steel and Rose Gold 01 46mm version with the Navitimer strap has an RRP in the UK of £8830.

Is it too much? This watch will last you a lifetime and the iconic design is timeless, you don’t have to be pilot to enjoy it but it helps.
